Mission
The Global China Center (GCC) at UST focuses on advancing a new paradigm of China Studies, in alignment with China’s global impacts and integration today. Established in mid-2019 and housed within the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Center seeks to foster interdisciplinary and multi-method research and teaching on global China.
Global China AI Lab (GCAIL)
Launching in late 2026, the Global China AI Lab (GCAIL) will make use of recent AI developments to discover new patterns in mobilities and connectivities of Global China. The lab's aim is to foster methodological innovation and advance primary research, with a focus on data inference, GeoAI, and structure discovery.
Exchange
Leveraging Hong Kong’s international reputation and position as a global city, GCC is a world-class hub of cutting-edge scholarship and education on global China. Internationally, GCC is building collaborative ties with other centers on global China in North America, Europe and Australia. Within Asia, the center acts as a regional platform for scholar exchange in Taiwan, South Korea and Japan, and establishes dialogue with schools in China around potential partnerships.
